ABOUT AMPI:

AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled butter makers, and cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:

  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. Pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations (such as work, home, grocery store, etc. Pick up and drop off parts and materials, and the ability to effectively communicate with respective customers and vendors.
  3. Operates a vehicle in compliance with all State, Federal, and AMPI rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices.
  4. Follow planned routes to drive to a requested destination.
  5. Obey traffic laws and state and federal transit regulations.
  6. Follow procedures to ensure passenger safety.
  7. Keep passengers and supervision informed of possible delays.
  8. Accurately record passenger attendance for each ride.
  9. Track and record mileage driven for each trip.
  10. Perform and record daily inspections of the transportation vehicle.
  11. Promptly communicate issues or events to the supervision staff.
  12. Maintain vehicle by checking tires, lights, and oil.
  13. Keep the vehicle clean and presentable.
  14. Complete assigned tasks that include cleaning, painting, organizing, filing, sample collection and testing, and basic carpentry.
  15. Stay alert to ensure passengers safety.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain a valid drivers' license and must be able to travel.

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through phone calls and text messaging.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

Office - Work is performed in a general office environment with low to moderate noise exposure. May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; talk or hear; taste or smell. The majority of the time is spent seated at a work station with access to telephone, computer, printer, files, and reference materials. Requires frequent verbal communication either in person, by telephone or by use of online interactive communication, to interact with vendors, suppliers, and consultants. Requires frequent written communication by requiring frequent typing and writing. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Farm - Work is performed in a vehicle. While performing the duties and tasks of this position, the employee will occasionally have to lift, carry, push, pull, climb, stoop, balance, finger, handle, and reach. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb; balance; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will frequently have to walk and stand. Must be able to climb steps 3 feet.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Office - This job operates in a professional office environment. Employees will work face-to-face with others on a daily basis. Some may share office space. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is rarely exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually low. May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment. The employee may be exposed to very low levels of ammonia.

Farm (Field Service and Hauling)- Employee will work outdoors while loading and unloading goods. Employee will work indoors while driving or completing paperwork. Employees are often exposed to contaminants, such as diesel fuel or exhaust fumes and airborne particles. Employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and wet work conditions. Employee is occasionally exposed to very warm and very cold temperatures depending on the outdoor climate in respect to the upper Midwest region. Employee may be exposed to chemicals. The noise level is moderate.

Previous experience driving any of the following: Taxi, school bus, uber, or any other type of passenger transportation. (required)
