Job Description:

Madison College is hiring a Promise Programs Manager! Madison College Promise Scholarships make attending Madison College and earning a degree possible for income eligible students in our district by helping to remove the financial barriers and offering connection and support throughout the college experience. The Scholars of Promise program serves graduating high school seniors and we are expanding a promise program for adult students.

The Madison College Promise Programs Manager provides leadership in and oversees development, implementation, and administration of program funding, services, and activities of the Promise Programs office. The manager helps to lead the charge in guiding Promise students from inquiry to completion and plays a pivotal role in supporting student success both academically and beyond. The manager helps to ensure that all program goals and objectives are met and works to facilitate the enhancement of the Madison College Promise Scholar experience.

The manager works collaboratively with department leadership and across units to foster relationships and shared understandings of Madison College Promise Programs by executing improvements for a quality, comprehensive district-wide student experience that aligns with college and department policies and procedures.

This position provides direct oversight of the Madison College Promise Programs team (currently one full time staff and multiple student and casual employees), with the anticipation to grow the program.

This position reports to the Director - College Access and Experience Programs.

This is a full-time, exempt salary, 52 weeks per year position. Core student services business hours are Monday and Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 6p.m, and Wed, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. - 4:30p.m. This position offers one to two days per week remote work, subject to change per campus policy.

Responsibilities Include:

1.Coordination & Program Development
  • Participates in the development, coordination, and implementation of programming, services, and internal/external partnerships of Madison College Promise Programs.
  • Manages and leads the regular coordination of services with other units to outline promise scholar lifecycle and support needs for student access and success.
  • Actively seeks opportunities to improve experiences through research, industry insights, and student development theory application.
  • Assists in determining access needs of the non-traditional student population for recruitment and retention purposes.
  • Works across and with student services' units to gather, organize, and promote internal and external resources for Promise students.

2.Outreach & Communication
  • Work with other college units to develop, align, and administer regular and intentional outreach through effective communication campaigns to connect with internal and external partners.
  • Oversee the development and coordination of marketing, recruitment, and outreach activities to enhance the knowledge of and participation in Madison College Promise Programs to and through Madison College.
  • Connects Promise students with specific Madison College programs that help build community.
  • Examines and refines Promise Program communications that target specific audiences.

3.Assessment, Reporting & Budgets
  • Develop, document, and review data systems for Madison College Promise Programs
  • Prepares oral, written, and electronic reports and presentations to leadership highlighting Promise Programs, activities, and services.
  • Maintains financial and budgetary accountability of Madison College Promise Programs through decision-making and sustainability processes.
  • Assists in the development of evaluation processes and metrics to support alignment of access and success of programming.
  • Oversee and track a fiscal budget for strategy, activity, planning and personnel for unit.

4.Leadership
  • Provides ongoing training and support regarding department procedures for providing information to students, staff, and the community.
  • Models and supports a student-centric culture focused on eliminating systemic barriers for students identified through assessment and feedback of students regarding practices, programs, and policies.
  • Manages the work of all staff (full-time, part-time, casual, and students) within the unit.
  • Performs hiring, training, and disciplinary procedures and processes of staff.
  • Actively participates in professional development to continuously improve upon knowledge and skill-building.

5.Partnership:
  • Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision, and values.
  • Engages positively with colleagues by handling conflict directly and professionally.
  • Contributes to team discussions through collaboration and assumes the best from colleagues.

Knowledge, skills & Abilities:
  • Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing. Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings. Ability to represent the college in a positive and professional manner, while using tact, discretion, courtesy, and respect
  • Knowledge of managerial and supervisory principles including exhibiting confidence in self and others through inspiring and motivating others to perform well. Ability to supervise others and to develop work methods and operational policies. Effectively direct and build a team through assigning individual responsibilities; exhibiting objectivity and openness to others' views; giving and welcoming feedback; contributing to building a positive team spirit; putting success of team above own interests; building morale and group commitments to goals and objectives; setting expectations and monitoring delegated activities. Provide recognition for results.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of higher education organizations and operations; administrative program management principles, practices, and techniques; and program development, planning, assessment and administration principles and practices.
  • Commit to the technical college philosophy in addition to an appreciation of and sensitivity to the importance of financial aid programs and veterans' benefits in facilitating access to higher education. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, including information protected by FERPA and HIPAA.
  • Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations) and skill in communication with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds to create an educational and work environment that affirms Madison College values.
  • Availability for travel for in-district meetings or trainings.
  • Strong planning and project management ability.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, think critically, and exercise independent judgement.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail required and previous experience maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks, and planning and organizing work to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge and experience in record and data systems to recruiting, admitting, and tracking students and program activity.


Minimum Qualifications:

1.Bachelor's degree

2.Minimum of 3 years of experience in higher education program development, theory, or strategy.
