Job Description
Reports to:
Production Manager

Summary of Position:
Responsible for managing the day to day aspects of the assigned shift. Directly supervises teams consisting of hourly employees including leads, equipment operators, forklift operators. Coordinates with and assists other department leaders. Accountable for safety, quality, and productivity results for the shift

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Hire, schedule, train, supervise and motivate employees on shift for the production department
  • Implement and monitor adherence to health/safety policies and procedures for the shift
  • Implement and monitor adherence to food safety and quality policies and procedures for the shift
  • Monitors and manages people and line performance to performance standards. Recognizes performance issues, identifies root cause and implements sustainable solutions
  • Develop and implement standard work for operations including start-up, shut-down, changeover, equipment operation, and housekeeping.
  • Leads continuous improvement projects
  • Maintain accurate records, data inputs, and process controls to ensure accurate reporting of performance, downtime, inventory
  • Effectively communicates with other department leaders to ensure smooth execution of daily production plans and prompt resolution of problems.
  • All other duties as assigned
Technical Requirements - Education, Areas of Knowledge and Experience:
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in the food industry
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent coaching skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of equipment, products, and processes
  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
  • Strong teamwork skills- ready and willing to work closely with team members
  • Work successfully and collaboratively with all plant personnel.
  • Self-motivated, results orientated and excellent personal skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Proficient computer skills in spreadsheets; data bases and word processing
  • Strong background in HAACP; safety; and GMP's
  • Must have a hands-on work ethic
  • Excels at the training of new and current employees
