Job Description

We are looking for a resolute and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Ingredient application and product development technologist in our pilot plant lab in Madison, WI. In this role you will be part of a " culture and enzymes for cheese application team" and assisting Application scientists and application manager on the various projects.


To perform this position successfully, the candidate should be able to perform the following tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Able to perform the application of cultures and enzymes in wide range of cheese products such as Mozzarella, American style, Hard Italian, Soft and Fresh cheese. This application role can also be extended to fresh fermented cultured products, milk, and plant-based products in future if there is a business need.
  • Assist application scientist on technical projects from experimental design to completion, which includes designing an experiment plan, testing on a lab and pilot plant scale, performing analytical procedures to conduct shelf-life testing.
  • Able to follow the instructions and operate small scale equipment to produce trial samples.
  • Operate various laboratory equipment to evaluate the samples, collect, organize, and analyze the data, and present the trial reports.
  • Support sales team with presentation of IFF capabilities and project reports to customers. Requires travel from 20 to 40% of the work time.
  • Ability to learn and work on new equipment / laboratory instrument.
  • Maintain the pilot plant equipment and laboratory instruments.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in their work area.
  • Manage ingredient inventory, ordering supplies, product shipping & receiving, and managing external product testing.
  • Ability to collaborate and work on research projects with suppliers and external research institutions.
  • Ability to work under fast paced work environment.
  • Safety coordinator to maintain safe working conditions in the lab and pilot plant.
  • Initiative-taking to generate innovative ideas for continuous improvement in pilot plant activities, product innovation and solving customer problems.

  • Good computer skills (Word / Excel / Power point etc.,)
Job Requirements

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • BS Degree, Food Science or Dairy Science (Preferred with Cheese technology courses).
  • 1 - 5 years' work experience in food or dairy industry (Preferred - Cheese making experience).
  • Knowledge in cheese making, food microbiology, food safety, food regulations, sanitation, and production process.
