Hydro Aluminium Metal a leading supplier of extrusion ingots, sheet ingots, foundry alloys, wire rods and high-purity aluminum with a global production network of around 5,000 employees. With primary metal production facilities in Europe, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Qatar, and recycling facilities throughout Europe and in the U.S., two-thirds of our primary aluminum production is based on renewable energy.

Job Summary:

To support the continued growth of our business, the Sales Manager will manage a customer portfolio and help the company meet our customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives. Optimize and manage an assigned customer base for the sales of Hydro's products. Work with operations and supply chain to ensure best possible allocation of domestic production capacity and overseas products. Balance regional market demands and requirements with Hydro's strategic, financial, and operational objectives. Help advance Hydro's greener portfolio offerings and support customer scrap solutions.

Required Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering or material science is required.
  • Minimum 7 years work experience in a related function is required.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Developing strategy, tactics, sales plans and profit targets
  • Manage customer relationships to achieve volume and margin targets
  • Understand both the automotive strategy and the green strategy and promote with current and potential customers to generate sales required to meet strategic targets
  • Developing relationships with clients
  • Maintain accurate short and long-term volume and product forecasts
  • Draft and negotiate annual supply contracts
  • Contribute to market analysis, strategy and operation improvement programs
  • Work with operations, finance and commercial teams to achieve common goals
  • Communicate customer issues and special customer instructions effectively
  • Build and maintain customer data base
  • Ensure all contractual provisions are adhered to, including timely call-off of shipment quantity and pricing formula. Promptly explain procedures to customer if questions arise
  • Understand and assume responsibility for hedging of metal on behalf of assigned customer accounts
  • Manage expense budget
  • Identifying and reporting on business opportunities in target markets
  • Maximizing new business development opportunities
  • This position requires extensive travel (mainly domestic, but some international travel possible).
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of cast house and extrusion processes and drivers, including ability to deliver on customer scrap solutions
  • Experience in the aluminum or metals industry. Experience in supply chain, technical sales, or commodity training is preferred.
  • Proven sales experience, consistently meeting or exceeding targets
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization, including executive
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Proven ability to articulate the distinct aspects of products and services and position them against competitors
  • Demonstrable experience in developing client-focused, differentiated and achievable solutions
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Structured approach to problem solving.
