This position will work as member of the Research and Process Development team to independently manufacture lab scale samples and test the material properties/characteristics on Parker Chomerics product. It will encompass various filler, polymers, and elastomeric products across the Chomerics product portfolio. The expected output of the work includes data analysis, interpretation of test results, and creation summary reports for internal and external distribution.

Responsibilities:

  • Work is primarily independent, but under the supervision and guidance of other members of the Research and Process Development team.
  • Conduct sample preparation, test set up, testing, and reporting. Test standards include testing the physical, electrical, and thermal properties of filled elastomers and polymers. On-site training is available for all test methods, but familiarity with basic material testing is required; Instron testing, thermal conductivity, specific gravity, etc.
  • Prepare Test Plans and Test Reports. All plans and reports shall be prepared in Microsoft Word.
  • All plans and reports shall be written precisely and accurately for internal and external use.
  • Support and execute internal and external testing requests submitted to the Physical Test Lab and support of the Sustaining Engineering efforts for reducing risk of raw material supply.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with basic material testing is required; Instron testing, thermal conductivity, specific gravity, etc.
  • High School Diploma or GED with 1-3 years of experience working with material testing equipment. On-site training is available for the specific equipment to be used.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and test specifications.
  • Ability to write routine plans and reports and general correspondences. Ability to work directly with customers.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
