The Quality Engineer works with cross functional teams to manage supplier quality issues, raw material specifications, Customer Complaint resolution, compliance initiatives and trending of available process data for identification of improvement opportunities. Main focus of this role is the remediation of customer complaint trends. This role also plays a significant role in champion supplier related quality activities and related issues that create opportunities for improvements throughout the facility.

Specific Duties

  • Manage the Internal Quality Assurance activities including directing Quality Inspectors and Quality Hold processing.
  • Creates and maintains centralized customer specification system. 
  • Implements and maintains centralized quality data collection system. 
  • Analytically evaluates machine processes to provide information and direction for quality improvements. These evaluations include designed experiments and process capabilities studies. 
  • Create and maintain necessary quality gauging for the floor. 
  • Create and implement ‘fit for use’ tests, as needed, for existing and new product lines. 
  • To facilitate QPM trouble shooting teams, utilizing analytical analysis. 
  • To provide quality leadership and vision 
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Responsible for maintaining high quality standards and supporting the food safety/quality systems. 
  • Responsible for compliance to work safety standards
  • Serves as backup back up to Quality Director in case of Absence or Vacancy [customer requirement]
  • Additional job duties as required

 

Skill Requirements:

  • A Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or the technical equivalent preferable with a quality, chemistry discipline. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in food processing and/or food packaging manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Must have a systematic and methodical approach to tasks and understand problem solving techniques.
  • Experience of quality systems and auditing procedures.
  • Ability to lead teams and develop a continuous improvement culture.
  • Experience in the preparation and implementation of personal and team development programs.
  • The Job will require the person to have, or be capable of acquiring a working knowledge of:
