Woodburn - MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility

Hourly: $18.57 - $25.03 per hour

Join the dynamic team at MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility, within the Oregon Youth Authority, as a permanent, part-time Office Support Specialist. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional secretarial and support services to the administrative offices of MacLaren Facility. The Day In The Life:

  • Greet, answer questions, and direct visitors (families, public, vendors) to/in the facility.
  • Sort incoming mail, distribute staff/work unit mail, open youth mail to check for contraband, money, property, and gang writing, and distribute as appropriate.
  • Assists in maintaining a filing system and file checkout system for all youth records.
  • Type/keyboard a variety of correspondence, court reports, service plans, residential care referrals, treatment reports, schedules, case closures, treatment manuals, and program evaluations
  • Receive money from parents, etc., for youth and living units, receipt and route appropriately.

Additional Information:

  • This is a part-time, 20 hours/week position. The successful candidate may be required to work 40 hours per week based on business needs but normal working schedule will be Monday thru Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Benefits will be prorated according to the number of hours worked. The salary range listed above on the job announcement is for a full-time position and will be adjusted to reflect a 20 hour work week.
  • Starting Salary Expectations: $18.57 hourly to $20.88 hourly; based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
  • Position Salary Range: up to $26.76 hourly.
  • This position receives annual increases on anniversary date until the maximum of the salary range is reached.
  • Upon PERS eligibility, employees will receive a 6.95% increase to their base salary and will pay the employee 6% contribution to PERS.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
  • An Associate's degree; OR
  • Graduation from a private school of business with a certificate AND one year of general clerical experience.

Working Conditions:

  • MacLaren YCF is a tobacco-free environment.

  • This position will involve daily face-to-face contact with adjudicated and convicted youth. These youth may engage in verbally and physically aggressive or assaultive behavior.

  • Deals with verbal abuse from visitors by phone or face-to-face.

  • Facilities require 24-hour a day/7-day per week staffing. Weekend/holiday work may be required. Periodic or frequent mandatory overtime may be required with minimal notice.

  • Staff is expected to work during inclement weather.

  • This position is located in a close custody facility which requires, as a primary responsibility, strict adherence by each employee to security measures at all times to ensure the custody, control, and supervision of your offenders. This includes rule enforcement and potential hostage situations.

  • General staff and youth safety is an agency priority requiring vigilance and attention to policy and protocol.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and lift up to 50lbs
