About The Role:

The Route Driver is responsible for timely and accurate product deliveries to customers with a high level of professional and engaging service. The incumbent will shuttle products to other locations as needed and complete vendor pickups and other logistics activities as scheduled.
 

A Day In The Life – CDL A Route Driver:
  • Utilize a tandem axel day cab with either a 48’ or 53’ tandem trailer to complete all assigned customer deliveries each day in accordance with defined delivery instructions, communicating any hurdles as encountered.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and procedures and maintain a safe driving record, whether on or off duty.
  • Complete pre-and post-trip inspections of the delivery vehicle to ensure it is in good operating order and submit inspection sheets for review and filing.
  • Communicate any current or potential truck or equipment concerns to the Logistics Manager. 
  • Ensure the load is secure to prevent shifting or damage to products before disembarking.
  • Check all fluid levels in the vehicle and complete maintenance activities, such as replenishing washer fluid or adding fuel additives as appropriate.
  • Verify delivery counts against the paperwork at the time of delivery.
  • Utilize proper lifting techniques and operate appropriate equipment (i.e., hand carts, manual and/or electric pallet jacks, liftgate) to reduce the risk of injury while delivering product.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with customers and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate basic technology skills. Properly utilize tools and software required by Nassco.
  • If requested by the customer, place items into the appropriate storage area(s), ensuring proper rotation of customer stock as required.
  • Gather the required proof of delivery using the company-provided mobile phone (capture a photo of delivered items and have the customer sign for the items).
  • Sometimes picks up products or equipment from customers or vendors while en route.
  • Occasionally collects payment for items upon delivery.
  • Completes multiple routes per day as needed.
  • Clean out the truck at the end of the shift, including placing undelivered, returned, or vendor-pickup product or equipment in the proper staging area. Remove any personal items daily.
  • Attends and participates in bi-weekly driver meetings.


Qualifications:
  • A valid Class A CDL with an acceptable driving record is required.
  • Must have and maintain a Fed Med card.
  • Haz Mat Certification is required.
  • 3 or more years of Class A tractor-trailer driving experience
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Perform basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Desire to provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Must meet physical capability to perform the work required.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and subsequent random drug screens. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires regularly lifting and moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds either by hand or using a dolly. Must also regularly climb stairs to enter and exit the delivery truck or at customer locations. Will regularly be required to crouch, bend, or twist and use hands and fingers to operate truck controls and to record orders using a mobile application. Requires close and distance vision for the safe operation of the delivery vehicle and for operating the mobile application.



WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment may vary widely due to changes in outside temperature and weather. May be exposed to rain, snow, sleet, and/or wind, and slippery surfaces. When indoors at our facility or customer facilities, may be exposed to various odors related to business operations. May be regularly exposed to fragrances and odors that come from cleaning chemicals, air fresheners, equipment and other products that are part of the delivery or present at delivery locations. Noise level is moderate.
