Job Description:

In collaboration with internal and external resources, the Community Wellness Intern assists in developing, implementing and marketing health and wellness programming and initiatives to support the community and GBAHC alike, including area employers and the public. The intern will work closely with the Community Wellness Coordinator and Manager of Business Operations to assess, coordinate, implement and evaluate programming relative to designated focus areas to ensure the goals and objectives of the department are accomplished within prescribed time frames and budget parameters. Programming is accomplished in consideration of corporate initiatives. This position will be self-motivated and display excellent technical and interpersonal skills necessary to achieve desired outcomes.

Works closely with the Manager of OR and Outreach Services to assure community health needs are met, and with the Director of Community Relations related to community health improvement offerings. Collaborates with GBAHC's subject matter experts to assure efforts are well coordinated, and that our communities have high awareness of our health and wellness services and offerings.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist with coordinating efforts and resources to meet the needs identified in the tri-annual Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA).
2. Collaborate with Community Wellness Coordinator and regional partners to stay abreast of identified health disparities, evidence-based practices, and trending data.
3. Support positive external relations with local businesses, schools, and civic groups.
4. Attend meetings related to the development, planning, and implementation of health and wellness outreach efforts.
5. Collaborates and communicates with managers and providers to identify and develop educational content, displays, programming, and campaigns related to health improvement topics.
6. Assures that areas of responsibility meet all local, state and federal regulatory guidelines, including applicable state, and Medicare requirements.
7. Contributes to organizational community relations.
8. Models and promotes system values (BREATH).
9. Adapts to change well and is an effective change agent; demonstrates effectiveness in challenging and advocating.
10. Takes responsibility for professional growth.
11. Assures patient confidentiality through a confidential and secure record keeping system

Education and Learning:

REQUIRED

High School diploma or equivalent. Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree.

DESIRED

Pursing a degree in a health-related field.

Work Experience:

REQUIRED

1-2 years in a related post-secondary degree program.
