The Transportation Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and effectively scheduling all transportation activities for company owned and outside sub-hauling contractors across multiple Warren CAT locations.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Supervises, directs and evaluates all activities regarding transportation within the assigned territory.
  • Strategically plan, schedule and coordinate the delivery and pickup of WCAT assets using internal and external transportation resources.
  • Insure pickup and deliveries are completed within the required time frames.
  • Maximize efficiency and utilization through effective communication and scheduling.
  • Regularly track and measure transportation efficiency and utilization by using dispatch software.
  • Effectively communicate throughout internal departments to insure a seamless transition of the transportation process.
  • Provide strong analytical and conceptual thought processes with the ability to match drivers to loads while insuring maximum asset utilization.
  • Supervise, coach, and train workforce.
  • Schedule drivers by location in order to maximize each driver's time to optimize the amount of regular time used and minimize the use of overtime.
  • Follow WCAT policies and procedures regarding business correspondence with outsourced suppliers.
  • Demonstrate and implement safe working practices in accordance with safety policies and regulations.
  • Meet cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeline targets.
  • Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements.
  • Complete management requests, special assignments and/or projects within the specified time frames.
  • Actively participate and provide input in weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years' experience in the transportation industry and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Basic PC skills required. Should have a working knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and web based computer platforms.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
