What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a strategic thinker with analytical and problem-solving experience, strong teaming and interpersonal skills and an integrative ability to incorporate mission needs into information management solutions.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Aid in the generation of new, and reaccreditation of existing cyber security plans.

  • Determine security requirement gaps and provide recommendations or mitigations for addressing those gaps.

  • Work closely with our Home Team Communications (HTC) Lead, Information Security Site Manager (ISSM), Information System Security Officers (ISSOs), Program Site Security Officers (PSSOs) and Other Government Agency (OGA) system Help Desk personnel to provide interpretation of specific requirements and guidelines.

  • Perform cyber, telecommunications, and controlled article security assessments.

  • Maintain home team room and other program sites from a technical standpoint.

  • Capture, prioritize, and present information as requested by various data calls.

  • Consult with internal clients to assess information management needs and provides advice regarding information strategy including its storage that may include process improvements, configuration management, version control, streamlining, and cross communication.

  • Rapidly identify, analyze, and translate complicated issues into technical solutions, and distill that complexity into simple and concise communication in cross-functional settings.

  • Work with internal clients to manage and use information management systems or tools to collect and disseminate information, communications, and data to internal and external team members and customers, including external partnering national laboratories.

  • Conduct secondary research for clients, analyze and summarize information, and interprets results. Work with internal clients on selection, configuration, and use of information management systems.

  • Ensure information management and communication tools evolve to meet the users' changing communication and collaboration requirements. Conduct and participate in multidisciplinary research and collaborate with software developers and customers in the design, development, and testing of custom applications.

    Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$57,400 - $110,500

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Assurance, or relevant field; Or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Experience in the following:

  • Maintaining computer systems, hardware and software installation, troubleshooting connectivity issues.

  • Large equipment purchases and tracking equipment lifecycles.

  • Active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent DoD clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI level clearances which may require a polygraph.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience testing and monitoring of network systems.

  • Experience working with routers, switches, KVMs and network protocols.

  • Experience with the Sandia Restricted Network (SRN), Sandia Classified Network (SCN), Sandia Partnering Network (SPN) and Top Secret (TS) network operations.

  • Previous experience with information systems and the application of security controls.

  • Experience working with DoD, DOE, and OGA partners.

  • Experience deconflicting varying agency regulations and mission requirements.

  • Knowledge of the Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, printers, and basic workstation troubleshooting.

About Our Team:

The Nuclear Incident Response Program Department is responsible for the oversight and management of several Nuclear Emergency Response teams as well as Sandia portions of the National Consequence Management (CM) Program. Organization 6631 Nuclear Incident Program (NIRP) manages several large projects, provides research and technical solutions, expert analysis, and highly trained emergency response professionals to support the federal government's response to a radiological accident or act of radiological, chemical, biological, or nuclear terrorism.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Position Information:

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
