One (1) part-time vacancy at our Milwaukee Campus.

Up to 19 hours per week, hours vary based on departmental needs.

This is 43 week academic year position which typically runs from mid- August through mid-May.


Under the supervision of the Dean of STEM or Designee, the preferred candidate will be able to plan, organize, and teach college-level courses in the Mechanical Design Technology curriculum. The emphasis of the Mechanical Design Technology program is to graduate mechanical designers who foremost understand the engineering design process; who are able to design and analyze mechanical components and assemblies; who are able to create 3D solid models and 2D detailed drawings for parts and assemblies of mechanical
and electromechanical systems. The candidate will be expected to teach courses in mechanical design, applied mechanics, CAD (Solidworks, Pro-E/Creo, Inventor and /or Autocad courses), and other related courses specific to the program.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program/department evaluation. **
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance.
  • Advise students on academic issues. **
  • Collaborate with advisory committee in program/department area. **
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings. **
  • Promote the education/training program/department, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to promote educational opportunities at MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities. **
  • Develop relationships with business and industry. **
  • Complete program/department evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Experience:
Candidate must have one of the following sets of education and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or an equivalent subject area and at least 2 years (4000 hours) of work experience in the Mechanical Design, Engineering or Technology Fields.
OR
  • Associate's Degree in Mechanical Design Technology; Design Technology; Computer Aided Design Technology or other equivalent subfields within 5 years (10,000 hours) of related experience and training.
In addition, one of the following must be met:
  • At least one year of work experience must have occurred within the past five (5) years
OR
  • Two (2) years of teaching Mechanical Design or Engineering course work at the post-secondary level within the last five years.

Certification or Licensure Required:
None

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience in teaching and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including in-person and online.
  • Experience using a variety of instructional methods including: face-to-face, blended, and 100% online preferred.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain curriculum currency.
  • Working knowledge of computers and software related to instructional area including MS Office/Google Suite, data systems, mobile technologies, web conference tools, and social networking; and knowledge of, or willing to learn, Blackboard or similar learning management system (LMS) preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning strongly required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
  • Must have knowledge of assessment of student academic competency attainment.
  • Must be able to relate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social and educational backgrounds.
  • Must embrace and demonstrate Standards of Teaching Excellence and the MATC Career Essentials in development and delivery of instruction.

  • Email - Experience with email systems

  • Online Learning Management and Information Systems used for instruction, student advising, student programs/departments, grading, class schedules and rosters, etc.
  • Experience delivering synchronous instruction using multi-media based, and emerging technologies.
  • Experience delivering distance learning where applicable.

Supplemental Information

Start Date:

This position supports the STEM Pathway and is available to start in the fall semester starting on August 18, 2024.


Hours:

Up to 19 hours weekly, in-person, primarily based out of the Downtown Campus. Work is conducted during scheduled course hours, Monday - Friday


Salary:

Salary is determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity. Posted base rates do not include the multiplier rate which is dependent upon which course type instructor will be assigned. Salary determination will be only based on years of credited experience that is listed on the job application, please include complete work history.
