Job Summary

Manages the district help desk operations, IT Service Technicians, Warehouse technology inventory and technology training program. Ensures a satisfactory level of service to end-users. Participates in district strategic planning efforts. Supervises and evaluates staff.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or the equivalent is required; a Master's degree is preferred
  • Six years of experience managing software development and help desk operations is required
  • Three or more years of supervisory experience leading teams and working toward department and district goals is required.
  • Public sector or governmental Technology or Technology Support experience is desired
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Responsibilities
  • Manages the district help desk call center. Coordinates appropriate training and resources for help desk staff and IT Service Technicians assigned to schools.
  • Ensures a satisfactory level of service to end-users. Confers with end-users to resolve any application, help desk, training or procedural problems. Monitors and reviews the status of help desk call logs, and training program feedback. Determines the proper course of action and adjusts priorities and resource assignments. Directs the development and maintenance of the help desk standards and procedures.
  • Supervises and evaluates staff. Identifies and evaluates goals for personnel and professional skill development for self and subordinates. Interviews, evaluates, and recommends personnel for hire, promotion, or discharge. Ensures that staff training requirements are met. Approves absences and overtime for personnel. Ensures compliance with the district's information policies and standards. Monitors adherence to district security procedures as they relate to software applications.
  • Coordinates with Logistics Supervisor to deploy inventory and properly dispose of obsolete technology.
  • Coordinates technology support needs for district events including regular occurring Professional Development sessions, Leadership Institutes, district hosted conferences and special events as otherwise assigned.
  • Oversees district desktop support including PC and Chromebook standards, configurations, applications, management software and imaging standards.
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
