Summary of Position: The Estimator is responsible for providing cost and pricing estimates on customer inquiries.

Essential Duties:

  • Ensure Linetec's profitability margin goals are met on quoted services.

  • Serve as the primary customer and prospect contact for estimates on finishing and related services, following Linetec's pricing authority guidelines.

  • Calculate finished surface area, special service charges, and lengths and weights to determine appropriate pricing.

  • Review and prepare quotes for order entry.

  • Work directly with inside sales account representatives, production associates, outside sales representatives, management and vendors to collect and provide accurate information and quotes.

  • Obtain bids from outside metal suppliers.

  • Read and comprehend customer drawings and paint specifications.

  • Qualify and communicate specific lead times as needed.

  • Work with vendors to identify paint codes and request sample chips, formulas, product data, and Material Safety Data Sheets.

  • Coordinate customer sample requests.

  • Provide technical/product information - both verbal and written, to external and internal customers.

  • Negotiate with customers to minimize the impact on Linetec's profitability and reduce warranty liability.

  • Coordinate large volume quotes, new prospects, and any customer concerns with the outside sales representative.

  • Assist Field Service Manager with field service quotes.

  • Establish prospects and new customers in the Enterprise Resource Planning system.

  • Maintain customer accounts, including payment/credit terms, pricing/discount terms, contact file, etc.

  • Provide regular reports as requested.

  • Apply Lean principles in own work performance and drive Lean applications in company operations.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Requires 3-5 years related job experience.

  • High school diploma or GED required, with post high school education strongly preferred.

  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution operation.

  • Prior experience with pricing and dimension calculations desired.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Team player, willing to cross train and take on new assignments.

  • Computer proficiency - Word, Excel, Outlook, ERP/MRP.

  • Ability to plan and manage multiple projects.

  • Accurate attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Specific Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Usual office working conditions with occasional (5%) exposure to the production environment (heat, operating machinery and noise).

  • Office duties require sitting behind a desk, performing tasks on a computer.

  • Position involves limited travel.
