Company Overview:

West Star Aviation , partnered with STS Technical Services , is seeking an experienced Aircraft Interior Upholstery Technician to join its team in Grand Junction, Colorado. This role focuses on the repair, refurbishment, and installation of upholstery components in business class aircraft, contributing to the luxury and comfort of world-class interiors.

Position Summary:

As an Aircraft Interior Upholstery Technician, you will handle various tasks from general upholstery of aircraft seats and panels to the complete overhaul of interior components. This dynamic role requires precision, craftsmanship, and the ability to work under the guidance of a team leader on diverse projects.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform basic to advanced upholstery tasks including foam build-up, patterning, and sewing of seat parts and other interior elements.
  • Conduct removal, cleaning, repair, and modification of upholstery components.
  • Manage daily turnover sheets and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization within the shop.
  • Utilize basic computer skills to navigate through electronic training manuals and maintenance databases.
  • Work independently as needed and effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
Job Specifications:

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience working with upholstery on corporate aircraft is preferred.
  • Proficiency in sewing and familiarity with upholstery tools and techniques.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all work complies with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines and company safety protocols.
  • Participate actively in team settings and meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Perform major modification work as required and maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Routine capability to walk, bend, squat, stand for long periods, and maneuver in restricted areas.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and safety guidelines relevant to the aviation industry.

Working Conditions:

  • Majority of work performed in a hangar or shop environment; occasional work on the aircraft ramp.
  • Use of personal and electrical hand tools, including sewing machines, sanders, saws, etc.
