Job Summary:

The Ragsdale lab aims to hire a research specialist to perform essential lab research and organizational duties to support the lab. This includes performing research in population genetic analyses and inference of demographic and evolutionary history. A successful applicant will be responsible for developing their own research projects, as well as assisting other lab members in analyses of population genetic data and genetic simulation studies.

Responsibilities: Develops, designs, and conducts one or more research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision.
  • 40% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
  • 10% Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
  • 40% Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
  • 10% Performs literature reviews and writes reports

Education:

Required:
Bachelor's Degree
BS or BA in Neuroscience, Genetics, Biochemistry, or other related Biological Sciences

Qualifications:

Equivalent of at least 1 full year. This can come from previous work as a technician, graduate student, or undergraduate researcher (strong research experience required if no post-grad experience). Experience with evolutionary and population genetic methods, processing and analyzing genetic sequencing data, and programming experience in Python or other scientific programming languages is preferred.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $39,400 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The typical starting salary for this position is $39,400 to $56,300 depending on qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is $39,400 to $73,200.
