The opportunity


Our Measurement Engineering team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are seeking an Engineer with strong technical and troubleshooting skills to support gas measurement and regulation facilities across the U.S. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and contribute in a team environment.

The Measurement Engineer is responsible for being a subject matter expert to our internal and external customers and support both internal and external programs, projects and initiatives as required.


This position may be filled at other locations in the U.S. depending on the location of the successful candidate.


What you'll do

  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to internal and external parties regarding gas measurement and regulation practices to new and existing interconnects, equipment installations, measurement issues and discrepancies, etc.
  • Provide guidance and expertise with physical setup of measurement equipment including RTU and communication equipment for the transfer of measurement data between field and office (SCADA)
  • Complete assignments independently within established standards and specifications
  • Stay abreast of and maintain a working knowledge of applicable industry guidelines and regulations such as AGA, API, GPA, FERC, etc.
  • Support and/or lead internal and external initiatives and programs with minimal supervision
  • Assure work complies with the accuracy level and time constraints required for the assignment
  • Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings across project, programs, initiatives, and department
  • Develop new procedures and drive improvements to existing practices and procedures
  • Actively participate in design reviews to provide engineering direction and fosters stakeholder engagement
  • Maintain and develop operating standards and procedures to support quality gas measurement practices in Field Operations and within the Measurement Engineering Department
  • Lead and/or facilitate testing, commissioning and start-up activities of gas measurement and regulation facilities
  • Develop relationships with, and become the primary Measurement contact for, Field Operations, Measurement, Project Engineering, Project Management, Marketing, Business Development, and System Design to improve gas measurement across U.S. gas assets
  • Participate in review of third-party facility agreements to ensure equitable transactions from a design and operational perspective
  • Perform and validate flow capacity calculations for gas measurement and regulation facilities
  • Develop scope, cost estimate and justification for measurement related capital improvements and break-fix projects
  • Provide technical support as needed during working and non-working hours
  • Mentor Engineer(s)-In-Training and provide oversight and direction
  • Assist team members with assignments and transfer knowledge and experience as required
  • Other tasks as required


Minimum Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in Engineering from an accredited program
  • Engineering experience in the natural gas or energy industry
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Strong decision-making ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of RTUs, gas chromatographs, gas quality analyzers and odorant systems
  • Comprehensive understanding of industry standards pertaining to measurement and gas quality (API, GPA, AGA, and FERC)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license
  • Experience with RTU programming and configuration

This position requires candidates to

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
