Job Description



  • Expected to provide support and information to supervision, external and internal auditors as well as internal or external customers.
  • Responsible for recording, reviewing, classifying and summarizing accounting information as prescribed by corporate policy, generally accepted accounting principles, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), FASB, GASB and NARUC.
  • The Accountant III is expected to lead projects and exhibit problem solving abilities. Should be a self-starter and possess a high level of accounting/ regulatory and system application knowledge in the discipline assigned.
  • Responsible for mentoring / training other accounting employees and ORACLE FIS users.
  • Expected to demonstrate continuous improvement to key processes.
  • Accountants may be rotated through the various accounting areas.


  • Essential Job Tasks:
  • Review and/or reconcile assigned general ledger accounts of moderate to high-complexity to the appropriate sub-system(s) and/or source information which are assigned by the supervisor. Develop and maintain appropriate documentation and support for reconciliations. Identify and resolve noted variances in a timely fashion. Responsible for maintaining procedures for each key process which includes any process improvement in terms of accuracy and/or efficiency.

  • Prepare and record various entries of moderate to high-complexity by compiling and analyzing account information. Maintain appropriate documentation and support for all journal entries. May be expected to review, approve and post journals to the general ledger.

  • Report and summarize financial information for both internal and external customers. Examples are reporting provided to management such as Special Reserve, Green Power, PEDC reports, or other special requests.

  • Assist with external, internal and Central audits. Provide research, analysis, and support for a variety of moderate to complex accounting issues. May be expected to provide lead support for the Annual Report or parts of the audits.

  • Complete verification of assigned sections of any financial reports including providing support for narrative or variance explanations.

  • Work will include various assignments including assisting or leading special complex projects such as providing necessary documentation during bond issues e.g. flux analysis, bond letters, IRS private use regulations support, etc. Other examples are plant closures, new subsystems, or pending regulatory announcements. This position will also be expected to provide support to this or other areas of accounting as needed.


  • This position may be eligible for hybrid (remote and in person arrangement).

    Accountant I
  • Business Degree with a major or emphasis in Accounting or a Business Degree with 21 hours of Accounting.


  • Compensation Information:
    $52,340 - $65,420 (min. - mid.)

    Accountant II
  • Business Degree with a major or emphasis in Accounting or a Business Degree with 21 hours of Accounting + 2 years experience required


  • Compensation Information:
    $65,080 - $81,350 (min. - mid.)

    Accountant III
  • Business Degree with a major or emphasis in Accounting or a Business Degree with 21 hours of Accounting + 5 years experience required


  • Compensation Information:
    $80,890 - $101,110 (min.- mid.)
