Job Description

The Lifestyle Services Assistant will play a vital role in assisting the Campus Administrator and Life Enrichment Coordinator in implementing recreational programs aimed at enhancing the physical, mental, and social well-being of residents. This position will involve organizing and facilitating a variety of activities, events, and outings tailored to meet the interests and needs of our residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and conducting recreational activities such as arts and crafts, games, baking, and social gatherings based on resident interests and capabilities, as determined through staff guidance and resident interviews.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, in-services, training sessions, and community events as required.
  • Help coordinate tours and shopping trips for residents.
  • Prepare and set up for movie screenings, live entertainment, guest speakers, and parties.
  • Support the operation of the Country Store, including inventory management, stocking, pricing, scheduling hours, and overseeing volunteer staff.
  • Contribute to the development of in-service programs for staff and volunteers.
  • Assist in maintaining Lifestyle Service Policies and Procedures.
  • Uphold the philosophy, policies, and procedures established by Regency Senior Communities.
  • Perform additional tasks as delegated by the Director of Lifestyle Services
  • Respect and promote the rights of residents as outlined in the Resident Bill of Rights.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding residents and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Leisure Programming or working with the geriatric population preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written or verbal instructions in English.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with all departments.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact positively with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
  • High energy level, organizational skills, and capability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Professionalism in all interactions and communications.
  • Willingness to be called in to work additional shifts as required.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment tests and screenings.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Motor coordination required for leading and participating in recreational activities.
  • Manual dexterity for arts and crafts instruction.
  • Ability to discern colors for art-related tasks.
  • Capacity to concentrate on tasks despite interruptions and attend to detail for extended periods.
  • Capability to perform manipulative skills and remember multiple tasks over time.
  • Clear verbal communication skills to interact with residents and family members.
  • Sensory abilities including distinguishing smells and hearing sounds.
  • Physical agility to stand, walk, reach, squat, climb stairs, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform various tasks throughout the workday.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Genuine interest in serving the needs of the elderly population with patience and tact.

Work Environment: The work environment is generally light and sedentary but may involve prolonged periods of standing and physical activity.
