What you will work:
  • .75 FTE = 60 Hours every 2 weeks
  • Monday - Friday day shift (Between 7:30am - 4:30pm)
  • Noweekends

What you need:
  • Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) by the state of Wisconsin
  • Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
Job Description:

The Sleep Respiratory Therapist is responsible for teaching patients' usage of PAP therapies for Obstructive/Central Sleep Apnea as directed by Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants. This position is trained to assist clinicians to symptomatically problem solve and analyze patient breathing and PAP issues to determine appropriate treatment. The Sleep Respiratory Therapist also Interacts consistently with DME for patient PAP equipment needs.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Preparation, assessment, and instruction of patients, patient's needs in association to their appointment, and meet Medicare and insurance guidelines

2. Actual testing procedures including but not limited to: performance of CPAP/BIPAP trials and follow-ups, PAP therapy implementation, mechanical ventilation management and assessment: Arterial Blood Gas Sampling, Oximetry, PAP mask fittings, troubleshooting of patients personal PAP equipment, and attend to Clinic Responder pages-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

3. Provides documentation, validity of PAP downloads and sleep study results, answering all phone calls and EPIC in basket/MyChart messages pertaining to sleep, E-visits, and charging of services provided

4. Liaison between patient and their Clinicians with DME PAP equipment vendors

5. Communicates thoughts clearly and effectively. Is approachable and open to feedback.

6. Relates to colleagues in a considerate manner, showing dignity and respect.

7. Demonstrates professional accountability by adhering to Gundersen's policies, meeting regulatory and compliance requirements, supporting the mission, vision and values of the organization and completing required annual training and addressing own learning needs.

8. Participates in quality improvement activities in order to continuously improve patient care, health outcomes, and department operations. Participates in staff meetings.

9. Assists patients and/or their care providers through education, learning and coordination of sleep medicine referrals

10. Assists with training new personnel

Education and Learning:

REQUIRED

Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy.

DESIRED

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Respiratory Therapy or a related field

1 year previous experience in direct Patient Care.

License and Certifications:

REQUIRED

  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) by the state of Wisconsin and
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
