Construction Estimator Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review drawings, specifications, and owner documents to establish a scope of work for estimates
  • Estimate projects from conceptual design through construction document phases
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoff estimates for all trades
  • Assists Project Manager with subcontractor solicitation and bid evaluation
  • Create relationships with subcontractors to retain current marketplace feedback
  • Evaluate and present Value Engineering ideas when required

Construction Estimator Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a construction related field
  • One to two years of construction estimating experience preferred
  • Ability to read/interpret building plans and an understanding of construction systems
  • A strong understanding of excel spreadsheets and ability to learn takeoff and estimating software is required
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and complete numerous projects in a timely manner
  • Flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines though analytic problem solving
