Main Duties & Responsibilities

Job Summary:
The key responsibilities of a Continuous Improvement Engineer include conducting process reviews, performing root cause analyses, developing improvement plans, implementing lean manufacturing principles, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement, leading cross-functional teams, and monitoring progress towards set goals.

Duties:
Follow RSA's/Trimas's ethics/compliance procedure/policies.
Performs duties as per RSA's procedures and knowledge on various departments.
Helps generate processes to measure and analyze work methods, tasks, and resource allocation.
Provide recommendations for process optimization and ergonomic improvements.
Process Analysis: Collaborate with engineers and production leads to analyze existing processes and systems within the organization. Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
Increases day-to-day production and process efficiency by analyzing the shop layout, capability of equipment, process flow - resulting in increased quality, increased productivity, and reduced cost.
Data Collection: Assist in gathering relevant data and performance metrics to assess manufacturing processes.
Keeps detailed records in an organized fashion and practices good organizational skills.
Has general knowledge of commonly used (industry) concepts, practices, and procedures within the aerospace manufacturing industry. Obtains on-the-job experience with reading and interpreting engineering drawings and drawing requirements.
Possesses beginning to working knowledge of the subject matter for duct manufacturing.
Learn and support activities required for production and customer needs.
Diligently perform additional department related duties as assigned by the direct Manager.
Follow quality assurance procedures and methods to production planning documents, drawings, and other instructions

Minimum Education/ Experience:
An engineering degree (BS or MS) in manufacturing, aerospace, mechanical or industrial engineering or a physical science plus a minimum of 4 years of aerospace manufacturing experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Must be a good problem solver, self-starter, and team player.
Must be capable of working independently as needed.
Strong computer skills and technical writing capabilities to write test procedures or other documentation is required.
Must be familiar with common software applications - Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
Some familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing - ANSI Y14.5,
Ability to interpret and use of model (parts, tools) with SolidWorks or CATIA V5

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with sheet metal processes (e.g., forming, cutting, drilling, riveting, assembly).
Experience with fusion welding (GTAW / TIG) process.
Experience with resistance welding (Spot or Seam) processes.
Experience with fluorescent penetrant and/or radiographic (x-ray) processes.
Experience with inspection or measurement processes.
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) / Material Requirements Planning (MRP) software systems - RSA uses Epicor.
Experience with programming (Excel VBA, SQL) and/or Excel Pivot Tables to compile and construct data to support Continuous Improvement and CAPEX projects.

Essential Physical/ Mental Abilities Required:
While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to talk or hear, frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger (keyboard) and reach with hands and arms; required to sit long periods of time, occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.

The pay scale for this position ranges from $66,560 to $95,000 annually.
