The Position:

The Business Systems Manager's role involves leading a skilled team of systems analysts responsible for the effective integration and management of Walbec's critical business systems. This role demands a proactive leader who can provide technical guidance and support their team, while collaborating with business stakeholder to manage off-the-shelf products, and maintaining productive vendor relationships.

In addition, the Business Systems Manager, is responsible for managing data within a SQL environment, working with the business and IT on an effective business intelligence strategy. This position requires a blend of technical prowess, leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of business processes to foster an environment of continuous improvement and innovation.

Management & Leadership

  • Manage team staffing
  • Work with business and IT leaders to define and implement the business systems and integration strategy
  • Provide technical leadership and lead teams in planning and executing project work.
  • Ensure the quality and security of the business systems and related integrations, following the industry standards and best practices.
  • Develop and implement IT policies and procedures

Systems Management & Integration:

  • Coordinate with the stakeholders, subject matter experts and IT staff to understand the business systems requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs and expectations.
  • Work with support team to troubleshoot business systems & related integrations regarding performance, functionality, and usability issues.
  • Manage the implementation, and maintenance of off-the-shelf products and vendor relationships.
  • Architect, create, review, and debug code in collaboration with team using various development languages & platforms, such as JavaScript, SQL, Postman, and Boomi Integrations.
  • Negotiate and communicate with the vendors, resolving any issues or disputes that may arise.

Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Develop and implement a centralized reporting strategy that aligns with Walbec's business objectives, utilizing current technologies such as Microsoft PowerBI, Excel or custom SQL queries.
  • Work with the off-the-shelf point based solutions
  • Manage and optimize databases for advanced data reporting solutions, ensuring high standards of data accuracy, security, and compliance.
  • Standardize the report request and prioritization process, enhancing collaboration between IT and business units to meet dynamic reporting needs efficiently.
  • Design and deliver training programs for end-users on the effective use of business intelligence tools and reports.
  • Work with leadership on potential initiatives in advanced analytics to support predictive insights and decision-making processes.

The Candidate:

  • Four-year university degree or college diploma in Technology or Information Security
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in application and integrations development, with proven track record of delivering successful complex integrations using APIs, flat files and direct SQL connections.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of application, database, report writing and integration development tools and platforms, such as Boomi, Microsoft and Oracle SQL, GitHub, Postman, Microsoft PowerBI.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a high degree of creativity and innovation.
  • Hands-on experience in application, integration, database, and report writing with a willingness to coach code best practices and troubleshoot issues.
  • Experience in managing off-the-shelf products and vendor relationships, with strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
