Job Description

Reporting to the chief information security officer (CISO), the director, Cybersecurity Delivery (Chief of Staff) is a highly visible member of the global cybersecurity team. The director serves as a central point of contact for the Office of the CISO, ensuring operations and strategy are working as planned. In this role, the director also provides leadership support and helps ensure the CISO's strategic vision is communicated across teams that support global enterprise security initiatives. Regulations, compliance, privacy, business operational security and business partner relationships fall directly within the director's purview.

The director supports and helps maintain the overall daily planning and execution of global cybersecurity function and activities. Partnering with others, the director provides coordination supporting the operational and tactical focus of security management reports who oversee analysts, engineers, and architects. As a business enabler, the director aids the CISO in the quest to ensure business decisions are not hampered by security, but made and implemented with security and policies in mind, resulting in an adaptable, secure operating business environment.

The director is expected to be an excellent communicator who reflects confidence and is capable of interfacing with all levels of management and personnel. Additionally, the director possesses a strong practitioner background and can readily collaborate with technical tower leads and their direct reports. On a daily basis, the director ensures the CISO is fully briefed and prepared for business and technical meetings, financial reporting, personnel management, operational stability, project status updates, strategic relationships, as well as incident(s) status and any breaking news related to cybersecurity.

As director, you will foster a collaborative team environment where employees are valued, challenged to achieve excellence, and enjoy working for the company. The director assists with recruitment, career development and retention of global cybersecurity management and direct reports. Also, the director helps deliver global cybersecurity programs that establish highly effective policies, corporate protocols, and appropriate collaboration among teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide the CISO support with strategic planning and daily initiatives.
  • Act as a key point of contact with senior management, global cybersecurity management and business unit stakeholders for cybersecurity-related communications.
  • Assist with program roadmaps and communications disseminated throughout the organization.
  • Work with the CISO, global cybersecurity management and other technology leaders on financial planning and analysis, and additional fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Monitor all global cybersecurity projects and procurement from inception to successful completion, fully understanding the purpose of projects, technologies and their value-add to the organization.
  • Adhere to strategic risk management vision and decisions that scale globally to secure by design without slowing company innovation and execution.
  • Promote a strong security culture within the security department, but also organization-wide across management and employees.
  • Maintain adequate knowledge on best practice recommendations based on the evolving threat landscape to protect the business.
  • Work with global cybersecurity management to help define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that align with business initiatives and deliver to non-technical individuals.
  • Support security governance process across the business in conjunction with a global cybersecurity steering committee and advisory board.
  • Help prepare and refine board-level and senior management presentations and company-wide global cybersecurity communications.
  • Facilitate, attend and document meetings and action items, with the CISO.
  • Maintain lines of communications with business units to understand their plans and how global cybersecurity can securely enable them to execute their vision and business obligations.
  • Participate in new business or M&A activity requiring global cybersecurity input.
  • Under the purview of the CISO, report regularly to senior management and boards to keep them abreast of the threat landscape and the tactical controls and strategic plans required to achieve success.
  • Require and aid in scheduling and management, independent verification and validation testing of the company networks and sensitive programs through internal team resources and independent consulting engagements.
  • Confirm third-party audit reviews of internal departments and report results to management and security oversight committees.
  • Be highly involved with IT security programs to confirm the company's systems are fully compliant with all applicable regulatory requirements and privacy laws.
  • Openly support the organization, the management team and executive leadership team, even during times of adversity.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant years of work experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas for this job opening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information assurance, MIS or related field, or equivalent.
  • Master's degree not required, but advanced degree (MBA, MS, or information assurance/technology) preferred.
  • One or more certifications desired. CISA, CISM, CRISC, CISSP, or PMP.
  • Preferably 12+ years' management experience and 5+ years technical hands-on or team lead security, audit and risk management experience.
  • At least 5 years' experience with information security projects and policies.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning and analysis.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills across varying levels of the organization.
  • General understanding of service design, delivery concepts and control frameworks.
  • Solid organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and delegate responsibilities.
  • Ability to effectively manage stress in a constantly changing environment.
  • Highly focused on supporting a strong cohesive team and security culture.
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to make quick decisions when working with complex situations.
  • Strong business acumen and forward-thinking.
  • High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and confidence, representing the company and its management team with the highest level of professionalism.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities, adapting the approach to effectively reach and develop the team. Uses this skill as well as functional knowledge to both earn and maintain a high level of credibility with the team.
