Job Description

JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of the IT Manager, the IT Technician is to provide technical support and assistance to ensure the smooth operation of our organization's IT infrastructure. The IT Technician will provide technical support on behalf of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Laptop Setup: Assist in the setup, configuration, and deployment of laptops for new employees or as replacements. Ensure all necessary software and security measures are installed and configured properly.
  • Hardware Support: Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues encountered by employees, including but not limited to desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
  • Software Support: Provide support for various software applications used within the organization, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
  • Desktop Support: Respond to and resolve desktop-related issues reported by employees, such as operating system errors, application crashes, and performance issues.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory, including procurement, deployment, and retirement. Conduct periodic audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Server Support: Assist with the administration and maintenance of servers, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of server-related issues.
  • Connectivity Issues: Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues, including wired and wireless connections, VPN access, and internet connectivity problems.
  • Microsoft Office 365: Provide support for Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint. Assist users with account setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Internet Support: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to internet connectivity, including DNS configuration, proxy settings, and bandwidth optimization.
  • Network Support: Assist with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs). Troubleshoot network-related issues, including switch and router configuration, VLANs, and firewall settings.
  • Documentation: Maintain documentation of IT processes, procedures, and configurations. Document solutions to common technical issues for future reference.
  • User Training: Provide training and guidance to employees on IT-related topics, such as software usage, security best practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Provide Electronic Health Record (EHR) support to clinical operations and patient care teams to facilitate the optimal use of all Epic (EHR) applications in the clinic
  • Identify, assess and troubleshoot EHR application and equipment issues as they occur, owning the problem and seeing it through to full resolution.
  • Manage EHR Error Work Queues and In Basket Pools established for the clinic.

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Attend meetings with peers for best practices, information sharing to and continuous training, and sharpening of support skills.

Attend IT work groups as appropriate

Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires an associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred and at least one-two years of experience. Previous experience in a similar IT support role is advantageous. Strong knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting techniques. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office 365 administration. Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician) are a plus.
