Terracon has an immediate opening for motivated, self-starting individuals that are experienced with completing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs). While this position entails primarily Phase I ESA work (including site visits), growth opportunities to learn or complete other environmental roles, such as Phase II ESAs, are available if desired.

Phase I ESAs are the foundation of due diligence and brownfield redevelopment - be on the front end of helping our clients complete their projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Scope and manage Phase I ESAs consistent with current ASTM Standard.
  • Identify, develop, and gather the resources to complete the project.
  • Lead safety efforts including preparation and compliance with approved safety plan.
  • Take action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
  • Partner with other departments or offices to secure specialized resources for the project.
  • Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate with other staff to meet project targets and milestones.
  • Coordinate with accounting for financial management of business intelligence, invoicing and collections.
Required Skills:
  • Strong understanding of ASTM E1527.
  • Ability to read and independently analyze and interpret technical reports, technical guidance documents, and governmental regulations pertaining to environmental contamination.
  • Strong technical writings skills including written reports and business correspondence.
  • Effectively communicate information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Independently solve practical problems and manage daily project variables.
  • Highly organized, attention to details.
Required Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience consistently completing Phase I ESAs in accordance with ASTM E1527.
  • Experience managing projects that include field data collection, investigation, and construction/remediation.
  • OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper and current annual refresher.
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving history.
