SUMMARY

Inspect all production and warehouse areas for compliance with established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Company Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Manufacturing and Packaging Record instructions. Audit in-process product and paperwork to ensure conformance to specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The following duties and responsibilities are performed with the assistance and guidance of the QA Supervisor:

Job Functions and GMP Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily audits of the production floor and document findings using Microsoft office applications (e.g. excel) for publication to production and quality supervisors. Audits to include, but not limited to the following activities:
    • Monitor and enforce plant good manufacturing practices on the production floor. Coach employees when necessary.
    • Perform verification checks of in-process bulk products and finished goods for defects and product quality.
    • Verify completeness and accuracy of production paperwork (batch records, cleaning logs, etc.) during production and packaging operations.
    • Ensure operators are following written Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and written instructions in batch and packaging records.
  • Keep production shift supervisors and leads informed of GMP deficiencies found.
  • Record and report deficiencies requiring corrective actions from production through written Non-Conformances and Incidents.
  • Place in-process holds on non-conforming materials. Assist production with investigation of root cause of non-conforming material and accurately communicate investigation findings to QA supervisor.
  • With training, and under the under the guidance of the QA supervisor, make disposition decisions on non-conforming material based on product quality risk.
  • Complete foreign Material reports and investigations.
  • Take cleaning validation swabs of equipment and deliver to on-site laboratory.
  • Operate some lab equipment with training.
  • Act as a back-up to QA document technician to review manufacturing and packaging batch records.
  • Sample incoming components according to a statistical sampling plan and deliver to on-site laboratory.
  • Assist QA Supervisor in completion of special projects.
  • Must follow and exemplify GMPs in the work environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma, or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of eighteen months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Be comfortable working independently after initial training period.
  • Previous Experience in a GMP environment preferred but not required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of food safety principles a plus.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • HACCP Certification a plus.
  • Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) a plus.
  • Forklift certification training (will provide).
  • Respirator training (will provide).
  • PPE training (will provide).
