JOB SUMMARY:

AMPI is immediately hiring a Cheese Plant Relief. The primary role of the Cheese Plant Relief is to perform relief to Intake, General Labor, Cheesemaker, Assistant Cheesemaker, Pasteurizer, Forklift, Foreman, and Shipping and Receiving. The Cheese Plant Relief will also safely follow all state, production, and quality standards, while operating the vats. Knowledge of these multiple process functions and the ability to handle multiple job responsibilities is important. The individual must be a conscientious person and being capable of responding to multiple activities is required. Skilled operation of equipment and tasks involved with each of the jobs relieved is required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:

  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
  3. The Cheese Plant Relief operator will safely operate and work in the following areas as needed: Intake, General Labor, Cheesemaker, Assistant Cheesemaker, Pasteurizer, Filler, Forklift, Foreman, and Shipping and Receiving.
  4. Operator will be able to start up, shut down, Clean in Place (CIP), and troubleshoot the vats when appropriate.
  5. Operation and monitoring of all related equipment including but not limited to intake, milk pasteurization, starter, DMC and boiler.
  6. Maintain all related records and documentation per policy.
  7. Checking pH and TA's of whey and curd in vats. Takes temperature and moisture on product to control the process along with milk protein to fat ratios.
  8. Control vat deck screen/making adjustments if needed.
  9. Recording time, temperatures, and lot numbers on to make sheets.
  10. Reviewing cheese analytics and making adjustments if needed.
  11. Clean and sanitize vats, adhering to all sanitation procedures and policies.
  12. Responsible for maintaining internal customer specifications.
  13. Responsible for making necessary cheese make operation and process decisions relevant to good vat operation to ensure the best possible yield and quality potential.
  14. Informs supervisor of any production issues.
  15. Housekeeping of the work area.
  16. Learn and operate other equipment as necessary.
  17. Responsible to ensure production of the vat starts and stops on time.
  18. This position must follow all GMP, Safety, and plant policies and procedures.
  19. Adhere to all Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  20. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred.
  • One to three years relevant work experience preferred.
  • Food manufacturing, material handling and forklift operation experience preferred.
  • Must be able to maintain a valid forklift operator license.
  • Prior experience in the dairy or cheese industry is preferred.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP's, OSHA and loss control programs is highly desirable.
  • Ability to obtain a Cheesemaker and Pasteurizer license.
  • Previous cheese make floor, starter production, or HTST operation preferred.
