  • Our Ultrasound imaging includes: Abdominal, Vascular, Small Parts, Musculoskeletal, OB/GYN & Maternal Fetal Medicine OB work.
  • Partner with Radiologists, OB/GYN Providers, MFM specialists and Vascular Surgeons to provide quality care for our patients.
  • Twice monthly CME-eligible Ultrasound conferences to promote continuous learning and development.
  • Massages provided for each sonographer once per month.

Who are we looking for? We welcome both seasoned Sonographers and new grads to apply for our position!

What will you do? Shifts include Monday - Friday (8 hour day shifts), as well as rotational on-call night and weekend. This position is FTE flexible with availability to work a set FTE of .7FTE to .9FTE depending on candidate preference and department need.

Compensated to carry pager, and paid time and a half for actual on-call work!

Job Description:

The Ultrasonographer independently performs high quality diagnostic medical sonography exams and procedures to aide in medical diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Works with Gundersen Health System patients and their families to provide compassionate, individualized care in the provision of ultrasound services. Understands and applies the concepts of Diagnostic Medical Sonography when performing examinations on patients.
2. Has the ability to independently perform all types of ultrasound exams within the department, including Abdominal, OB/GYN, neurosonology, vascular, intraoperative and intracavitary examinations.
3. Demonstrates accurate knowledge of established protocols and equipment operations when performing exams on patients. Thoroughly reviews patient history in order to perform accurate and complete examinations. Provides the best images possible to radiologists and providers for interpretation. Provides high quality service to customers in a cost effective and efficient manner.
4. Maintains confidentiality with others regarding patient and organizational information.
5. Assumes responsibility to provide a quality learning environment for patients, their families, students, co-workers, and self. Responsible for attending staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education as required by the department. Dedication to continuous learning as an Ultrasonographer. Expectation to foster teamwork and respect, commit to continuous quality improvement as an individual and contribute toward department growth and improvement.
6. Demonstrates cross-sectional anatomy through proper patient positioning and transducer selection to determine normal from abnormal anatomy. Extends the scope of the exam to appropriately investigate pathology and symptoms.
7. Provide interpreting physicians with oral and/or written summary of exam findings. Contributes technical, professional knowledge, and observation to the final diagnosis. Interact with referring providers with oral and/or written summary of exam findings.
8. Performs other job-related responsibilities as listed on the competency checklist and as requested by others.
9. Provide general maintenance and cleaning of Ultrasound equipment.
10. Promotes the mission, vision and values of the organization and department.
11. Utilizes knowledge of regulatory compliance when working with patients and their associated charges.

Education and Learning:
REQUIRED
Post High School education in a specialized field: Completion of one year (minimum) ultrasound training


Work Experience:
REQUIRED
No experience required.

DESIRED
1 year of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Abdomen, OB/GYN and Vascular technology.

License and Certifications:
REQUIRED
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) within one year of hire date

Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

DESIRED
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) and/or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
