Location of Position: United States -- Wisconsin -- Sturgeon Bay

Business Group: Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding

Department: Planning, Scheduling, & Production Control

Position Type: Internship; Temporary; Non-Exempt

Reports To: Defense Area Planning Manager

Position Summary: This position is responsible for working closely with the Area Manager, Foreman and Fabrication employees in the LCS Department to ensure proper planning of the Littoral Combat Ship construction. Significant heavy manufacturing takes place both in several fab shops, as well as on the waterfront. Interns will have a mentor group who will act as a resource and point of contact for everything from our organization, vessels, and customers, to life in Door County.

Detailed Description:

  • Create an outfitting work pack to apply at a structural component level. This requires strategic business analysis to ensure process allows the completion of outfitting during panel construction while maintaining the ability to manipulate all work on the panel, including outfitting hot work.
  • Maintain business records in the DOD database
  • Support the team in creating KPI indicator for the shipyard.
  • Supporting the engineering teams in revieing drawing and bill of materials.
  • Supporting the engineering team in drawing jigs.
  • Attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Ability and willingness to engage in highly energetic pursuits on the waterfront.
  • Maintain a commitment to and promote the Quality and Environmental, Health & Safety Policies.
  • Abide by all organizational policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program relating to the Engineering, Business Management, Planning or Analysis field

Desired Qualifications:

  • Junior, Senior, or graduate level
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, modeling and drafting software
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to interact at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
