Position Description:

Responsibilities: Accession specimens, gross dissection, processing and embedding, sectioning, and staining of tissue for both research and clinical purposes under the direction of the Program Manager. Knowledge - Skills - Abilities Knowledge of biology, clinical judgment, medicine, cultural awareness, laboratory safety, and consulting. Medical documentation, interpersonal, practice-based learning and improvement, empathy, and decision making skills.
As a Histology Technologist, you will perform a variety of routine and special histological procedures under the direction of the Manager. Procedures include specimen accession, gross dissection, processing and embedding, microtomy and staining of slides. Perform immunohistochemistry procedures as described in protocols.
In a primarily research setting, the histology technologist role supports scientific projects by providing histology services to investigators on and off campus. This work directly contributes to the advance of knowledge in fields such as medicine, pharmacology, physiology, pediatrics, and pathology. The histology technologist holds exciting opportunities to contribute to translational science in research and diagnostic initiatives while working with a collaborative and supportive laboratory environment.
Preferred Schedule:
M-F am to 4:30, no weekends or holidays
Position Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.
