We are currently seeking a Metallurgy Technician (Quality Control & Production) for our Cudahy facility, a location vital to supplying advanced materials and components that are found in jet engines, aircraft, spacecraft and other key market segments. The person in this position will work 3rd shift, Monday through Friday, 11pm-7am.

As a Metallurgy Technician, you will assist in ensuring our components and materials are meeting customer specifications and will be required to assist in meeting production goals. To achieve this, you will prepare metal alloys for metallographic evaluation, perform mechanical tensile and creep testing, and/or coordinate testing.

A successful Technician will quickly grasp ATI's processes, work collaboratively with multiple departments and stakeholders, have a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to act quickly and make decisions on the fly.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate testing equipment in accordance with work instruction
  • Use quality control and measuring devices such as scales, calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, optical comparators, temperature indicators, etc.
  • Learn and perform preparation and mixing of lubricants, coatings and compounds
  • Learn and perform analytical control of chemical processes and perform routine chemical analytical determinations
  • Receive parts/product from machining and monitor metal removal processes in Acid Etch area
  • Learn and perform acid disposal processes and directions involving records, maintenance and housekeeping
  • Under supervisory direction, record data to prepare basic charts, tables and required information related to testing results
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in quality control or metallurgy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Metallographic rating experience
  • Experience working with hazardous materials
  • Experience with hazardous materials testing and Mechanical testing - tensile and creep testing
  • Experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.
