Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for HO X-Plant to join our Team based in Mobile, Al

The HO X-Plant is responsible for the Major Component Assembly (MCA) team, X-Plant Technical Support which includes the Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain and Operation team. This person will manage all Major Component Assembly (MCA) supplier interfaces to support E2E Quality gate execution, as well as the completion of all MCA Outstanding work. This position will manage the ME and Operation team's priorities according to the FAL milestones while ensuring that all team members are competent and have the necessary skill set according to POA. Establish and maintain effective communication with the FAL production, Plants and Suppliers.

Your Challenges:

Operation Team: 40%

  • Lead and manage the Operations team in all areas to deliver on time, quality and cost.

  • Provide direction and guidance to production activities and achieve Green Station Gates.

  • Closely monitor and manage all budgetary requirements regarding consumables consumption, hand tools, and Jigs/Tooling maintenance.

  • Addressing all needs concerning Work Orders, WIP materials management, Design and Work Process questions and Ground Test which performs all relevant aircraft tests.

  • Select the best personnel in the business area suited to the specific objective by applying known skills, qualifications and Poly-Poly

  • Responsible for the development of workforce forecast requirements based on defined rates.

  • Responsible for the prevention and elimination of disturbances in the manufacturing process and monitoring the level of quality output from the team

  • Actively manage the transfer from trainers (DE) to employees through succession planning, preparation, knowledge transfer validation, and training.

  • Lead and maintain a high level of technical knowledge among the workforce in regard to mobility, turn-over and integration/development of new operators.

  • Ensure fulfillment of legal and airworthiness requirements to ensure Operation, including demonstration of compliance for the maintenance of the POA.

  • Contribute to enhancing the corporate image by ensuring FAL environment standards are high and continuously improved.

  • Function as a role model and leader in the observance of OSHA rules and regulations. Ensure the importance and company commitment to safety is in the forefront of thought and action on the part of every employee.

  • Support the Analysis for the Cost of Non Quality data to identify root cause and eliminate human factor quality defects that occur in the manufacturing/assembly process, as quickly and as early as possible.

  • Proactively identify and resolve problems to prevent disagreements and encourage collaborative work relationships. Engage with support staff from Quality, Procurement and other specialty areas to improve work flow and enhance existing processes.

  • Collaborate with the procurement function to ensure the acquisition of necessary consumable materials as well as tools and other equipment.

  • Coach, Train, and Lead Operations Teams in achieving the annual objectives.

  • Responsible for A/C documentation for Hand Over, accurate Quality Gate data, and FOT achievement.

  • Handle departmental budgets/costs in accordance with AOP objective.

Technical support - Xplant Manufacturing Engineering + Xplant Supply Chain: 30%

  • Promote dynamic and proactive team involving X-Plant Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain functions, where they will aim to put forward optimal solutions for all X-Plant related Outstanding Work Items being handled in the assigned business area.

  • Provide quality and timely work instructions to XPlant Operation.

  • Ensure a proper coordination of QSR's, sophisticated rework/repairs, DQN, and working parties by building and implementing a plan with the nominated MFT (Production, engineering, quality, method, etc.)

  • Ensure Technical Leadership within the X-Plant MFT and coordination with engineering functions locally and globally

  • Manage "long-distance" relations with all functions, esp. the back office, logistic hub and interfaces to Plants and worldwide suppliers

  • Ensure consistency of operations and products in the SA Programme by regular exchange of best practice between other Airbus FALs.

  • Run, oversee and secure an orderly & on-time flow of material, parts and tools needed for X-Plant activities- manage the demand placed by / with plants and supplier's- From plants and suppliers through to X-Plant Operations Teams

  • Manage stakeholders, procurement, HUB's, Plants/Suppliers at the senior leadership level

  • Manage actively the transfer of knowledge by succession planning, preparation and training

  • Identifies critical points, launches actions with all Plants and suppliers to avoid any impact on the Flowline performance.

  • Manage departmental budgets/costs in accordance with AOP objective.

Major Component Assembly and Outstanding: 20%

  • Management and monitoring of the Outstanding Work Operations from Quality Gate-H through to completion and attestation

  • Manage performance of subcontractor KPI's against contractual targets

  • Ensure preparation of all OSW activities are done before sections are due into station- this includes tracking of parts, tools and materials being shipped to FAL-Mobile

  • Ensure OSW subcontracted activities are implemented in line with current Work Specifications and contractual requirements - subcontracting budget approx 2 M$

  • Highlight risks of complex topics or unacceptable volume of OSW being transferred to FAL-Mobile

  • Contribute to Quality Gate-H Stop and Fix decision in coordination with HO A320 FAL

  • Secure Quality Gate-H for each plant

  • Ensure Mobile A320 FAL issues and concerns are represented and actioned in Habit Meetings

  • Making sure that Industrial and Local Safety Regulations /Requirements are strictly implemented and respected within St 43

Your Boarding Pass:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or similar and/or combination of education and experience.

  • Between 8 - 10 years of experience in Aviation including Manufacturing Engineering + Operations

  • Demonstrated leadership experience required

  • Successful in leading technical projects to ensure optimal implementation of technical solutions

  • Experience in managing and leading is required

  • Experience in working with internal & external partners, suppliers and plants is mandatory

  • Knowledge of Airbus processes and methods.

  • Google Suite (Google Mail, Docs, and Sheets)

  • Airbus IT-Tools (AIRINA, TAKSY, ECM, eQLB, ALB).

  • Knowledge of common applications such as SAP, My HR, My Pulse
