Summary

The Maintenance Floor Supervisor's role is focused on building the maintenance team's ownership, capability and execution excellence of Standard Maintenance Practices, Computer Maintenance Management System, and Process Control. The role is tactically focused on empowering the Maintenance team's accountability to company goals, business performance expectations, continuous improvement and operational excellence. The Maintenance Floor Supervisor reports directly to the Maintenance Manager. The Supervisor will directly oversee Maintenance Department's Floor Teams, and indirectly oversee the Shop Staff. In addition, acts as a first resource, point-person and decision-maker for Mechanical issues.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS):

  • Expectation is to manage the team while also performing hands-on tasks on the production floor (as needed) with the machinery involved in the processes of baking, processing and packaging, as well as building maintenance and stationary engineering.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance re: health & safety, and environmental standards.
  • Improving reliability of production lines & ensuring machinery downtimes are reduced.
  • Support building the Maintenance team's technical & functional capabilities.
  • Lead the performance development of the Maintenance Teams, and Shop Staff.
  • Support the strategic development of the maintenance department to a world-class level.
  • Overseeing Preventive, Predictive maintenance, MRO Inventory control and Planning.
  • Focus on the development of the Maintenance team to continually improve maintenance strategies and equipment efficiencies.
  • Support teamwork between Maintenance and other departments.
  • Actively participates in the daily production meeting as a key component of the operating team.
  • Monitors team performance-seeking opportunities to make continuous performance improvements.
  • Procurement process (vendor selection, ordering, receiving) up to $5,000.
  • Planning & Scheduling Vacations, scheduling of days off
  • Discipline - Safety, Performance, Company Policies etc.
  • Support Manager in the resolution of team/personnel issues
  • Labor expenses (ie: OT approvals)
  • Contractor Scheduling
  • Shutdown scheduling
  • T&A System - all aspects
  • Work with operators and trades as required to achieve satisfactory results.
  • Must understand & abide by all safety, security, quality & HR policies and procedures on site.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

COMPETENCIES:

  • Experienced in supervisory capacity in a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices as well as the concepts of Total Productive Maintenance and Process Control.
  • Familiarity with a capital-intensive facility & Best Practices.
  • Communicates effectively in speaking, writing, and in listening.
  • Planning is required to effectively manage shift operations.
  • Requires both technical and administrative knowledge.
  • Proactive mind-set and flexibility are important as well as the ability to work under just-in-time pressures.
  • Develop respective reports to think "Outside the Box" pending catastrophic failure.
  • Ability to take control of situations and follow them through to a successful end-result.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management and peers.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Ability to effectively function in pressure situations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • This position usually requires minimum an Associate's degree in management or related field.
  • 5+ years of maintenance and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry.
  • Proven supervisory and leadership abilities.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Available for weekend and off-shift hours as needed.
  • Working knowledge of procurement and service agreements.
  • Attention to detail, through and effective follow-through.
  • Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skill.
  • Solid problem solving and decision-making skills, sense of urgency, attention to detail, organization, ability to execute multiple tasks while maintaining confidentiality and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, HRIS, social media)
  • A positive, "can do" attitude.

CONSIDERED A PLUS:

  • Knowledge of food manufacturing industry a plus and regulation inspection procedures is highly desired.
  • Background working with outside vendors and contractors

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, heat and extreme cold, and food allergens. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

An office space; working computer, telephone, desk, and chair as needed to complete administrative tasks. Enter and work within temperature controlled environments of -10 to 85 degrees. Some assignments may involve exposure to noise, chemicals, biohazards, and various forms of radiation. Some assignments could be extremely dangerous in the event of dizziness, loss of consciousness, or loss of balance. Working conditions are normal for a plant manufacturing food. Food safety practices are followed and upheld to the full extent. Work will involve lifting of raw materials, finished cases of bread, and ingredients. All employees will be required to wear a slip resistant safety steel toe shoe.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Salary Description
$100,000 - $120,000
