Position Overview | This is a Part-Time position working at least one day a week, every Saturday between the hours of 10 am to 4 pm. However, there may be opportunity to work additional hours when backup assistance is needed when the chapel is open on Sundays noon to 4 pm and Monday-Friday between 10am to 4pm. As the Chapel Guide, you will be responsible for greeting visitors, conducting tours and answering questions regarding the history of the St. Joan of Arc Chapel and how it came to Marquette University. Also responsible for preparing the altar for liturgical services and keeping the Chapel orderly and presentable. |
Duties and Responsibilities | 1. Prior to opening and closing, make sure Chapel is presentable: arrange furniture in proper order; light dusting and/or sweeping as necessary. 2. Greet visitors and conduct tours as necessary. 3. Prepare altar before and after daily Mass. 4. Assist in coordinating lectors and Eucharistic Minister/s for daily Masses. 5. Notify University Ministry staff member of Chapel needs as necessary. 6. Prepare Chapel for liturgical seasons as necessary. |
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | Requires an outgoing/pleasant personality, good communication skills, a good memory and understanding of Catholic ritual. Minimum high school education or equivalent. |
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | An interest in history would be desirable. |
