EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have and have 240 hours of experience in an approved education setting.
- Must have completed high school or equivalent.
- Must meet all Child Care Licensing requirements including on of the following: 2 DCF-approved courses in early childhood education (credit or non-credit) or the school-age equivalent; 48 credits from an institution of higher education with at least 3 credits in early childhood education or school-age growth and development; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in education; a Child Development Association credential; or otherwise qualified as a School-Age Program Leader through The Wisconsin Registry.
- Minimum of 240 hours of related experience working with early childhood or school-aged children in an approved setting.
- Must be able and willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, Mandated Reporter, Wisconsin Child Care Registry certification, and additional non-credit coursework (as needed) within specified time frame.
- Must have a sincere interest and ability to comprehend needs and develop positive outcomes in children from diverse populations.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others.
- Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
- Exhibit the core values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. and work indoors and outdoors; must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children; see and hear well enough to keep children safe; and engage in physical activity with children.
