WHEDA is seeking a SUMMER INTERN to join our Facilities team in our Madison Facility.

SALARY: The pay range for this position is $18.00/hr. - $21.00/hr. Offered Salary will be based on qualifications and internal pay equity. WHEDA provides a competitive salary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The position of Building Maintenance Technician intern is responsible for semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of the WHEDA facilities (MSN/ MKE). This role is to assist the building team with the needs of internal employees and tenants of the facility, for the oversight of the building and the performance of any necessary repairs. This position assists in ensuring the safety, security, and proper working conditions for all building occupants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma, or GED AND 2 years of building maintenance experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Building maintenance, cleaning, janitorial principles and procedures;
  • Electrical, plumbing and carpentry principles;
  • HVAC mechanics, repair methods, related software and preventative maintenance principles;
  • Commercial security alarm systems;
  • Beginners' knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Use of hand and power tools, vehicles, machinery, and any other applicable equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Interpersonal skills ability to interact with all staff levels and the general public appropriately;
  • Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure, while maintaining safe work practices;
  • Successful prioritizing and management of work projects
  • Maintains confidentiality related to internal/ external customers and any other information obtained in this role.
