Position Overview

The Green Bay Shipping Container Division is looking for an experienced packaging designer to join our team in the Design Department. This position works to develop, implement and evaluate customer packaging design needs for new packaging and/or to improve existing items. Must be able to perform in a detailed, multi-task, fast paced environment providing technical designs for corrugated paper i.e. folding cartons, reels, partitions, 3 dimensional renderings, etc.

Responsibilities

* Determines size, material, and palletization options using TOPS.
* Creates designs, concepts, and prototype sample layouts to meet customer requests/requirements using Artios CAD.
* Cuts prototype samples using a Kongsberg cutting table.
* Develop new ideas and methods of packaging for present and prospective customers. This may be a redesign, cost reduction goals, labor reduction, etc.
* Maintain daily communication with Account Managers on design requests and/or other design projects.
* Assists when needed on sales calls with Account Managers to review and analyze customer requirements.
* Maintains and updates on-line sample request form for design project status and due date requirements in the Design Department.
* Provides support to internal departments such as Customer Service, Estimating, etc.

Qualifications
    Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Packaging Design or related field and/or a minimum 5 years work experience in a packaging design position.
  • Mechanical aptitude to design and visualize three-dimensional corrugated designs in the mind and then to physically reproduce it with the CAD system is a must.
  • Skills in aiding customers by answering questions and assisting them through the design process to meet their needs.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft software applications, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Ability to work well with customers, other staff members, be creative in the making of samples, and clear communications with customers and staff.
