Job Description
Overview

Performs all functions of pharmaceutical care required of a staff pharmacist. Organizes pharmacy activities to ensure quality service. Assists the director and/or manager with the development and implementation of policies and procedures, process improvement projects and performance standards. Provides direction to the staff in the daily pharmacy operations. Provides input and is responsible for meeting and/or exceeding the pharmacy budget.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a professionally operating pharmacy and conducts self as a role model .
  • Staff primarily as a hospital pharmacist but may be required to work in other functions of the pharmacy operations in support of the department.
  • Is an expert hospital pharmacist who relies on skills of comprehensive knowledge and experience.
  • Provides staff development and education in area of hospital pharmacy.
  • Participates in formulating pharmacy policies and procedures in the provision of pharmaceutical care.
  • Maintains practice by ongoing professional literature review, continuing education and self-evaluation.
  • Maintains oversight of partner training, adherence to annual education and certification requirements.
  • Collaborates with manager on oversight of daily operations.
  • Assists with partner performance appraisal.
  • Facilitates problem resolution.

Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy program
Leadership/Supervisory experience preferred.


Certification and Licensure

Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy program
Wisconsin/Illinois license


Skills and Abilities
Computer experience, including internet and email.
Strong accuracy skills
Excellent interpretive/analytical skills for pharmaceutical calculations for drug dosage, IV rates, etc

Special Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, taste, and smell. Specific vision abilities require by this job include frequent ability to adjust focus and occasionally distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.


Level of Supervision

Work requires a moderate level of independent judgment along with good interpretative and interpersonal skills with justification and accountability to the Manager, and Director.


Supervises

Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.
