The Strategic Division (SD) supports high-reliability organizations including Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, and the Department of Energy (DOE), among others. Our support across our client base is expanding rapidly and encompasses important services, such as data analytics and visualization, threat analysis, risk management, modeling and simulation, cost estimating, earned value management, program management, system engineering, independent evaluation, and High Consequence Event prevention.

The Strategic Systems Analysis Group (SSAG) supports government and private sector strategic planning, decision making, and program management. SSAG integrates deep client knowledge, advanced analytics, and subject matter expertise to provide timely and objective technical, operational, programmatic, acquisition, and policy analysis. SSAG is hiring for a Weapon Systems Engineer specialized in Nuclear surety design.

Responsibilities

Support the Navy SSP customer in a fast paced new Acquisition development program for the Nuclear Sea-Launched Cruise Missile (SLCM-N) program. The successful candidate will support the integration of the nuclear surety standards into the design of the cruise missile air vehicle, warhead, guidance, navigation and controls systems, and shipboard systems such as the fire control, launch control, launcher, and use control systems. This position will lead the coordination and integration efforts for Nuclear Surety and Use Control designs and integration across multiple Government and Contractor organizations. This position will be responsible for coordinating between the system level design activities within Navy SSP, warhead design activities executed by NNSA, the Air Vehicle design activities occurring with NAVAIR, and ship integration activities primarily executed by TEAMSUB. This position will lead a cross-team working group to ensure surety and use control requirements and specifications are integrated into the subsystem design and engineering teams. This effort includes the evaluation of the stockpile to target sequence (STS) for the warhead and system and establishing and managing environmental specifications across the system to ensure interfaces including the mechanical, electrical, shock, hydrodynamic, temperature and pressure environments do not exceed the STS specifications. Working group coordination activities will include technical planning, scheduling, and execution of critical design, integration, testing, and verification activities throughout the development and integration processes. The position will provide leadership and management support for multidisciplinary study teams and perform study planning, coordination of modeling and simulation tasks, evaluation of study results, evaluation of contractor detailed designs, data extraction and analysis, development of decision briefs, and briefing study and design results to to senior program leadership.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other STEM field.
  • Active Secret DoD security clearance or Active DOE clearance.
  • 5+ years experience in nuclear surety systems design, certification, and testing.
  • 10+ years experience performing system design and engineering activities.
  • Knowledge/course work of nuclear engineering, mechnical engineering, systems engineering, and/or physics.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams to coordinate system design activities.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute workload to meet requirements and deadlines and be comfortable working in a fast paced environment conducting analysis with uncertainties or incomplete data.
  • Must be capable of breaking down complex issues into simplified problem statements and laying out objective approaches to identify and compare the merits of competing solutions.

Desired Qualifications

  • Active DoD TOP SECRET security clearance.
  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Experience with nuclear system and component certification activities.
  • Experience with weapon system acquisition programs.
  • Preference for experience working with PyCharm, git, BitBucket, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to system design activities.
