Job Description
JOB OBJECTIVE
Provide supervision and guidance to housekeeping and laundry staff.  Ensure cleanliness of resident and public areas according to all State/Federal regulations/codes and Saint John's policies, procedures, and practices.  Works together with all members of the community to uphold and further the mission, vision, principles, and values of Saint John's Community.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  1. Must have High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory experience; housekeeping supervisory experience is preferred.
  3. Must possess or acquire within 6 months of employment formal training as a supervisor.
  4. Must demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills; must be able to read, speak and  write English.
  5. Must demonstrate the ability to comprehend and follow established procedures, be able to multi- task, be able to work independently and perform various duties without close supervision.
  6. Must have intermediate computer skills; navigate, create, and format documents, manage email, etc.
  7. Must have the ability to adapt to changing organizational needs, work flexible hours to meet the scheduling requirements and answer calls that may arise outside regular work hours. 
  8. Must be highly professional in actions, neat attire appropriate to the position, have excellent customer service skills, be honest, dependable and exhibit a warm, cheerful, caring manner and desire to work with and serve older adults. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
 
  1. Ensures delivery of the highest quality standards in general housekeeping including but not limited to:
    1. High and low dusting
    2. Cleaning and disinfecting of cabinetry, doors, handrails, and baseboards
    3. Cleaning and disinfecting of restroom fixtures and surfaces
    4. Cleaning of mirrors and windows
    5. Collection of trash and recycling
    6. Vacuuming of carpet and sweeping/damp mopping of hard surface flooring
    7. General pick up and processing of clutter
    8. Deep cleaning tasks
  2. Selects, trains, schedules, supervises, motivates, and evaluates housekeeping staff in a 24/7 operation.  Participates in hands-on coaching, active listening and in providing growth opportunities for employees that result in the overall success of the Organization.
  3. In conjunction with the Housekeeping Manager, disciplines and terminates according to established policies and procedures.
  4. Assists the Housekeeping Manager in establishing annual department goals and a plan of action to accomplish them.
  5. Promotes collaboration and a positive and professional work environment.
  6. Works cooperatively with other departments, both within and outside the Facilities Management umbrella, to see Saint John’s strategic objectives and daily tasks accomplished.
  7. Utilizes an electronic work order system to assign and manage work orders.
  8. Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with all applicable codes and regulations and with the highest level of quality workmanship.
  9. Perform routine inspections of resident and public spaces, analyze quality issues, and provide coaching to ensure standards are met.
  10. Respond timely to staff, resident and family concerns or requests in a courteous and friendly manner.
  11. Ensure housekeeping equipment and material storage areas are kept in a safe, organized, and clean state. 
  12. Ensures that housekeeping equipment is kept clean, well maintained, and stored appropriately.
  13. Monitor supply inventory and order with guidance from department budget guidelines.
  14. Properly handle all housekeeping chemicals, utilizing them only for their intended purpose and storing them appropriately.
  15. Keeps personal work area clean and organized. 
  16. Performs housekeeping tasks as needed including response to BBP clean up.
  17. Conveys and communicates timely departmental and/or operational issues to the Housekeeping Manager.
  18. Complies with all Saint John’s safety, security, infection control and hazardous materials policies and procedures.  Maintains confidentiality of department and organization information.
  19. Assures that all resident/client rights are maintained at all times. Reports any violations or suspected deviations immediately, according to Saint John's policy.
  20. Attends meetings and in-service programs.
  21. As needed, functions as department liaison to outside service providers. (i.e., window cleaning)
  22. Must have the ability to flex schedule to meet the needs of the organization.
  23. Function as Manager on Duty two weekends a year.
