POSITION SUMMARY

The FFG Class Desgin Services (CDS) Technical Coordinator is a junior level professional who has demonstrated some ability within project management, managing the flow of technical data, contract/subcontract aspects, or analytical capacity. The Technical Coordinator will prepare management control (financial/business planning and scheduling) processes and reporting for complex systems, programs, projects, and/or tasks. This person may contribute to some or part of the following topics of program integration: outsourcing, risk and opportunity management, or program metrics reporting and compliance. This position will be assigned to support the Technical Director, FFG Non-Construction Projects within the FFG PMO organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Position may involve regular interaction with all levels of FMM's operations/senior staff, customers regulatory bodies, and major suppliers.
  • Interfaces directly with FMM supply chain vendors and the Navy.
  • Collects and develops Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) documents and data for submission to the Navy. Additonally the Technica Coordinator will track and manage the submissions from other departments to ensure compliance with the contract.
  • Be familiar with Information Management and Knowledge Management -- organize and store information for configuration control.
  • Prepares miscellaneous associated reports, charts and graphs on project or contract status and makes presentations to management to keep them apprised.
  • Has excellent written and verbal skills to interface with all levels of the organization through the attendance of meetings and written memos.
  • Assists in preparation of a project schedule and creation of a project team assigned with appropriate technical subject matter experts.
  • Provides assistance to technical/operations staff, coordinating efforts with contracts/subcontracts, corporate accounting, and human resource staffs to assess impact of contract change notices, engineering change proposals, etc.
  • Maintains/monitors management control requirements for designated contracts, projects, and/or tasks. Analyzes and reviews all cost (time, materials, and equipment) information and data to ensure all phases of the statement of work are included.
  • Supports technical evaluations of vendor proposals.
  • Assists in preparation of bases-of-estimats, level of effort required to complete contractual tasks, projections on future level-of-effort, estimate on margins, and other planned reports.
  • Monitors performance to contracts, oversees contract compliance, and supports discussions with the customer covering assigned topics.
  • Be familiar with various forms of IT support needed toaccomplish assigned tasks -- be prepared to set-up and remove IT support as necessary.
  • Support risk analysis/evaluation; determine risk areas to cost or schedule.
  • Take notes, meeting minutes, action items and follow-up to ensure close-out of action items.
  • Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee's workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.
