Schedule: Monday through Friday working 1300-2130

Job Summary:

The Lead Anesthesia Tech coordinates and assists with direct patient care activities, supporting the Anesthesia Provider during delivery of anesthesia. Working in the operating room, the incumbent provides technical services to the Providers including coordination of the daily work of the anesthesia technical section, performance of blood analysis, patient care equipment set-up and inspection, and assistance in basic patient care procedures. This position involves a balance in leadership of the Anesthesia Technicians and Anesthesia Aides, coordinating the daily operations in the O.R., as well as the responsibility and expertise for overseeing the blood laboratory. Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

A minimum of 4-5 years of Anesthesia Technician, including 2 years of experience in one of the following areas is required: calibration, quality control testing and maintenance of blood analysis equipment; performance of blood analysis to include blood gases, electrolytes, glucose, ACT, and hematocrit; provision of technical assistance to personnel in the operation and application of patient care equipment; performance of patient care equipment inspections in an operating room environment. In lieu of, five years of related OR experience in a military role, or at least one year of Lead Anesthesia Technician experience in a hospital-based setting may be accepted.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

An Associate's Degree and ASATT certification as an Anesthesia Technician is required. In lieu of, an additional 2 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician or in a related military role, or an additional one year of Lead Anesthesia Technician experience in a hospital-based setting may be accepted.

SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:

Extensive training and experience with life-supporting anesthesia equipment required.

LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire. American Society Anesthesia Technologist/Technician (ASATT) Certification is strongly preferred.
