Job Summary:

The Department of Human Oncology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking applicants for the Bentson Fellowship (translational laboratory research training) in Radiation Oncology to commence in the Summer of 2024.

The Department of Human Oncology (DHO) is an interdisciplinary department within the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health with missions of clinical service, research and education. The DHO fosters excellence in state-of? the-art cancer treatment, teaching as well as basic, translational and clinical research.

The fellowship will emphasize Radiation Oncology translational research at the level of 80-90% commitment. In addition, Bentson fellows will have the opportunity to pursue effort focused on clinical activities including clinical and procedural practice and the design and execution of clinical trials that relate to radiation oncology.

Candidates will have a strong interest in academic medicine and demonstrate a commitment to translational cancer research in radiation oncology. Candidates with particular talent and productivity in writing original material (research manuscripts and protocols) are encouraged to apply. Opportunities for translational research in the DHO are very strong and extend to collaboration with other Departments across the UW School of Medicine and Public Health.

Bentson Fellows will be appointed as Clinical Instructors in the Department of Human Oncology within the UW School of Medicine and Public Health.

Responsibilities:

The fellowship will emphasize Radiation Oncology translational laboratory research at the level of 80-90% commitment. In addition, Bentson fellows will have 10-20% clinical activities with opportunities to design and execute clinical trials that relate to new radiation oncology technologies and biologics.

Qualifications:

Completion of radiation oncology residency required. No additional work experience needed.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 24 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding
