Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:


Performs high quality EEGs (routine and video), seizure monitoring. Has the ability to scan, correlate, and clip study information. Facilitates all aspects of study completion and reporting within the department. Possesses strong well-developed communication and technical skills.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


* Performs routine, portable (ICU), Video, and Long Term Monitoring (LTM) EEG's, EMU hook up, monitoring and data management.
* Performs procedures appropriate to their credentials.
* Provides an accurate patient history, transfers studies, and notifies physician of availability of test.
* Possesses basic understanding of interpretation of EEGs.
* Possesses computer and troubleshooting skills.
* Communicates department needs to management
* Participates in department meetings and in-services.
* Provides quality patient care and interaction as well as basic knowledge and technical performance as defined by the ACNS guidelines

  • West Bloomfield
  • Taylor
  • Troy

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School Graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Two or more years of experience in the performance of EEG procedures OR the candidate is a graduate from an accredited program.
  • Graduate from a Commission on Accreditation Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) accredited ENDT program or an Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university is desired.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Credentialed as a Registered Electroencephalography Technologist (R. EEG T.) or board eligible by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) standards.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Candidate will be required to pass ABRET Registry board exams within 2 years of hire date.
