The Stella Hotel & Ballroom in Kenosha is looking for talented people to work on our team as a Lead Cook. Preparing great food for our guests is crucial to providing first class customer service. As a Lead Line Cook on our team, you will complete a variety of tasks which will include:
  • Work in designated station as set by Executive Chef and/or Sous Chef.
  • Organize assigned work area and efficiently put away orders.
  • Prepare and sell food within recommended time frames to meet guest expectations.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as braising pan, baking ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
  • Produce quality product in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in assigned work area.
  • Prepare and cook all food items according to recipe, presentation standards, and to specification.
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.
  • Prepare all menu items by strictly following recipes and yield guide.
  • Prepare, season, and cook a wide variety of meats, vegetables, soups, breakfast dishes and other food items.
  • Slice, grind and cook meats and vegetables using a full range of cooking methods.
  • Wash and peel fruits and vegetables. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients in correct proportions.
  • Maintain knowledge of cooking temperatures, making soups & sauces, preparing entrees, vegetable preparation and a la carte cooking.
  • Minimize waste and maintain controls to attain forecasted food cost.
  • Review status of work and follow-up actions required with the head chef before leaving.
  • Assists in providing on the job training and development of new cooks.
  • Assists other Team Members in the kitchen when needed or perform any other tasks assigned by the hotel management.
The position is ideal for someone with the following experience and qualities:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in similar role.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
