POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION:

Perform functions that relate to monitoring and maintaining the Melt operations. Coordinate daily molding schedules with molding lines. Assist in training and orientation of new and current Melt employees. Responsible for own safety and the safety of others in the area.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent pushing and pulling up to 60 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation,as provided in detail in the Job Analysis Database.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (GEDWorks program eligible).
  • One plus year's' experience in a manufacturing melt deck environment.
  • Basic oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with other employees.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Basic problem-solving, math, and reading skills.
  • Proficient in basic math skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • None

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Monitor and maintain Melt operations.
  • Coordinate daily molding schedules with molding lines.
  • Ensure test bars are being poured by iron pourers when required.
  • Maintain an efficient operation including having the job line-ups, process sheets, proper tools and supplies.
  • Coordinate melting, relines, start-up operations, and major overhauls and drains.
  • Assist management with daily production and reporting.
  • Review and process required paperwork such as production reporting, process sheets, forms, payroll, etc.
  • Assist in developing team concepts of Continuous Improvement and reducing monthly scrap.
  • Assist in training and orientation of new and current Melt employees.
  • Assist in supervision and employee discipline in the absence of the Manager.
  • Follow and comply with all work rules.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Follow Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System procedures and requirements.
