This is a casual position in our Clinical Resource Unit (CRU) requiring assignments throughout the hospital sitting for patients who are at risk. Requires a minimum of four 8 hour night shifts (11pm-7:30a) per 4 week schedule as most needs are on night shifts. Once meeting that requirement, other shifts, hours may be available.

Must have some weeknight and weekend availability. no holiday rotation.

Must be able to commit to this schedule requirement while in school. Self scheduling makes this very flexible for students and a great way to get experience in our hospital.

Prefer junior and senior nursing students- Seniors who don't graduate before May 2025

We have a high rate of promotion to RN from this role

Planning for start date of May 20, 2024 and June 3, 2024.

REQUIRED attendance at New Employee Welcome on first day from 9a-4p and one other day that week for unit training so need to keep schedule open that week.

Under the direction of a registered nurse, provides supervision to assigned patients. Acts to ensure patient safety through continual surveillance &/or basic interventions. Performs basic activities for which competence is demonstrated through the Patient Safety Companion (PSC) skills checklist. High school degree or equivalent and six months of health care experience OR a current nursing student. Effective interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact courteously and tactfully with patients, parents/families and members of the health care team. Rudimentary assessment and analytical skills in order to perform basic patient observations. Knowledge of computer and keyboard. Functional sight, hearing and speech. Ability to sit and stay alert for prolonged periods of time. Ability to stand &/or walk up to 50% of time.
