Job Description

Job Purpose

The early childhood homeless child/youth systems navigator works as a team member to develop educational intervention strategies; provide case management, resource systems navigation, monitor student progress, make appropriate referrals, and act as a resource to school staff.

This part-time position will support the School District of Beloit in identifying young children and youth (ages 3-5) experiencing homelessness and providing wrap-around services and assistance needed to enable them to attend school and participate fully in school activities. This person will be instrumental in creating community partnerships to increase awareness and identification of homeless youth. While the primary focus of this position will be prevention, the child/youth systems navigator will assist in meeting the urgent needs of children and youth experiencing homelessness-including academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs. Additionally, the child/youth systems navigator will work collaboratively to ensure the district is in compliance with the McKinney-Vento Education for homeless children and youth.

This position is responsible for removing educational barriers. The child/youth systems navigator must be committed to service through a lens of equity, helping the district dismantle systems of oppression, and providing anti-racist schooling experiences for all students.
